Meet your presenters

Andrew Goldberg

Andrew Goldberg has been practising for over 17 years in Labour Law, with ten years in his own practice. He is the holder of a Masters Degree in Labour Law. Andrew has been an Acting Judge of the Labour Court with two reported judgments and over two thousand appearances at the Labour Court. Andrew has the unique ability to break down topics so that attendees can fully understand all the processes under discussion.

Advocate Verlaine de Wit

Advocate Verlaine de Wit is a member of the Johannesburg Society of Advocates and keeps chambers with the Maisels Group. He has been in practice for over ten years and focuses mostly on mercantile law. He holds a LLM in International Trade Law and further qualifications in international commercial arbitration and film producing.

Advocate Dwight Snyman

Adv. Dwight is an admitted member of the Johannesburg Society of Advocates and is accredited by the Legal Practitioners Council as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa. Before being called to the Bar, Dwight completed articles of clerkship, and attorney’s competency exams under the auspices of the Wits Law Clinic. He completed his Advocacy pupillage under the tutelage of the esteemed Adv. Louis Du Bruyn. Though still junior within the profession, Dwight has had opportunity and success in litigation, in the High and Magistrates’ Courts of the republic, the CCMA, Disciplinary Hearings and assorted other venues and forums, and has become possessed of practical litigation experience beyond what would normally be expected from a practitioner of his age and seniority.

Cilna Steyn

Cilna completed her LLB Degree at Unisa, after which she was admitted as an attorney in 2007. She co-founded Steyn & Steyn Attorneys, where she began to specialise in evictions. She regularly presents training session, where she advises groups of rental agents and private landlords on matters relating to Landlord and Tenant Disputes and broader scope Property Law related matters. She also acts on the panel of experts for the Law Society of South Africa’s Legal Education and Development. She presents seminars on behalf of LSSA: LEAD, educating attorneys nationally on eviction procedures and rental claims.

She is one of the drafting attorneys of the TPN (Tenant Profile Network) Residential Lease Pack. She has a close relationship with industry shaping bodies like IEASSA, SAPOA, REBOSA, the PPRA and present training, provide legal opinions and advise to and on behalf of these bodies. Cilna authored “The Landlord’s Guide – Property Rental and Eviction” in 2015 and regularly publishes articles in newspapers and peer review magazines. She also appears on television and radio, participating in discussions relating to Property Law and in particular evictions. Cilna is an author for LexisNexis on the topic of Lease and Eviction.

Eric Levenstein

Eric Levenstein has been a director of Werksmans Attorneys since 1993 and is the head of the firm’s Insolvency, Business Rescue & Restructuring practice. He specialises in litigation and dispute resolution with a particular focus on business rescue, insolvency and restructuring, banking and finance, and corporate recovery of debt. His expertise extends to director liability issues. He regularly delivers seminars and writes for various publications on these topics among others. He is the Chairperson of the South African Restructuring & Insolvency Practitioners Association (SARIPA) and sits on the board of INSOL International, a worldwide group of insolvency practitioners. Eric has BCom and LLB degrees, Higher Diplomas in Company Law and Tax, a Diploma in Insolvency Law, and a Doctorate of Laws in Business Rescue.
