AGRICULTURAL LAND PRESERVATION & DEVELOPMENT BILL: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

In anticipation of parliamentary hearings on the Preservation & Development of Agricultural Land Bill, the National Assembly Committee on Agriculture, Land Reform & Rural Development has called for written submissions by 21 May 2023. This comes two years after the Bill was tabled.

The proposed new piece of legislation has three overarching objectives, to:

  • ‘promote sustainable farming practice’
  • facilitate the revitalisation of uncultivated agricultural land, and
  • to increase agriculture’s contribution to South Africa’s GDP.
