AIR QUALITY CONTROL: ADVISORY FORUM’S REPORTING DEADLINE EXTENDED

The National Environmental Consultative & Advisory Forum has been given another year to identify practical options for addressing non-compliance with minimum emissions standards and related issues. This is according to a Government Gazette notice extending the forum’s new reporting deadline to 17 August 2024.
Established in August 2022, the forum was tasked with conducting an ‘extensive’ stakeholder consultation process with a view to assessing ‘all significant relevant research and analysis’ and presenting it for public interrogation and review.
At the time, it was envisaged that the forum’s report would inform the process of granting provisional atmospheric emissions licences, taking account of:
- international commitments
- human health and wellbeing
- the energy crisis, and
- the economic climate.
