AL JAMA-AH TABLES MAINTENANCE AMENDMENT BILL

Al Jama-ah leader Ganief Hendricks has tabled a Maintenance Amendment Bill in Parliament with the aim of introducing alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in the context of failed Muslim marriages. Among other things, if passed by both Houses the Bill is expected to address gaps in the Act apparently preventing vulnerable applicants from accessing the relief to which they are constitutionally entitled.
