ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING ACT REPLACED

The General Laws (Anti-Money Laundering & Combating Terrorism Financing) Amendment Act gazetted on 29 December 2022 has been withdrawn and replaced with a backdated version that appears to be identical. A line-by-line comparison of the two documents might explain why. As SA Legal Academy has already reported, most sections of the Act came into force on 31 December 2022.

Please note that there has been no media statement from National Treasury on the Act’s replacement or on the commencement of most of its sections.
