ASTRO TOURISM STRATEGY GAZETTED FOR IMPLEMENTATION

The Department of Tourism’s recently published astro tourism strategy includes an implementation plan to be monitored and evaluated in the context of:
- promoting ‘indigenous celestial narratives’
- ‘human capacity development’
- infrastructure development, and
- inclusive sector partnerships and growth.
Released in draft form in September 2024 for public comment, each objective listed in the strategy’s implementation framework identifies:
- challenges understood to be hindering progress
- funding gaps
- quarterly targets, and
- key stakeholders and institutions.
