BANKS ACT: FINAL CONSULTATIONS ON REGULATORY REFORMS

The Prudential Authority has called for input by 21 October 2024 on draft revised amendments to regulations under the Banks Act, 1990. The rationale underpinning these proposals is unpacked in an accompanying draft directive.

Building on amendments released in draft form in September 2022 and 2023 for comment, the revised amendments now envisaged are underpinned by ‘various Basel’ Committee on Banking Supervision new or updated post-financial crisis reform frameworks. This is in the context of internationally agreed regulatory reforms intended to promote the safety and soundness of the international financial system.
