BANKS ACT REGULATIONS: DRAFT CREDIT RISK REPORTING DIRECTIVE OUT FOR COMMENT

The Prudential Authority has called for input by 4 August 2023 on a draft credit risk reporting directive proposing ‘specific instructions for completing Form BA 200’ in terms of Regulation 23 of the Banks Act, 1990.

This is noting that:

  • Regulation 23 sets out the minimum requirements of a standardised approach to calculating the capital and reserve funds required by a bank in respect of credit risk, and that
  • ‘the most recent set of proposed amendments to the regulations’ includes ‘revised’ standardised approach-related requirements.

It is not clear where the most recent set of proposed amendments is to be found. The Prudential Authority has already released a raft of draft directives this year on which SA Legal Academy articles have been published from time to time.
