The spreadsheet to which a link is provided below reflects the status of Bills before Parliament at the end of January 2026, by which time a handful of committees had resumed their work after the long festive season break. This is noting that Parliament has yet to be officially opened for the year – an event scheduled for 12 February 2026, when President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to deliver his traditional State of the Nation Address.
As SA Legal Academy has already reported, the National Assembly held a special sitting on 13 January 2026 to pass tax and appropriation Bills left in limbo when the House went into recess. They are now awaiting NCOP consideration and concurrence.
A few days later, a National Water Amendment Bill approved by Cabinet in July/August 2025 was finally tabled – as SA Legal Academy also reported at the time.
Please note that Bills listed in the spreadsheet can be accessed by clicking their titles.
However, you are advised to download the spreadsheet before viewing it so that all data is visible.
There are now 39 Bills before Parliament (please download before viewing). The most recent developments are emboldened in red.
