BUDGET 2024/25: FINANCE MINISTER CALLS FOR SUGGESTIONS

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has issued a media statement inviting South Africans to submit ‘concise and to-the-point’ views and suggestions for consideration as he prepares the 2024/25 Budget. The deadline for public comment is 11 February 2024.

Attention is drawn to seven topics apparently of special interest:

  • municipal finances
  • the spending priorities of government
  • ‘addressing a large budget deficit’
  • ‘stabilising state-owned entity finances
  • managing the energy crisis
  • tax revenues, and
  • ‘debt sustainability’

According to the latest parliamentary programme, the 2024/25 Budget is scheduled to be tabled on 21 February 2024.
