In anticipation of parliamentary hearings, the has issued a notice calling for written submissions on the replacement 2025 Division of Revenue Bill and replacement 2025 Appropriation Bill, along with the Public Sector Pension & Related Payments Bill. The deadline for input is 23 June 2025, with hearings scheduled to take place two days later.
Tabled on 21 May with the 2025/26 Budget, the replacement Division of Revenue Bill and Appropriation Bill follow the withdrawal of Bills tabled in March 2025 reflecting a valued added tax rate increase proposed at the time. Among other things, they respectively seek to:
Tabled in March 2025, the Public Sector Pension & Related Payments Bill seeks to provide for ‘certain public sector pension, post-retirement medical and other pension related benefits under legislation and collective agreements (to be treated as) direct charges against the national revenue fund’.
