COPYRIGHT & PERFORMERS' PROTECTION AMENDMENT BILLS OUT FOR COMMENT

The NCOP Committee on Trade, Industry, Economic Development, Small Business, Tourism and Employment & Labour has issued a notice calling for written submissions on the revised, remitted Copyright and Performers' Protection Amendment Bills. Among other things, the Copyright Amendment Bill introduces a new policy approach to copyright law, originating in the US and known as 'fair use'. It also proposes a complete overhaul of the collecting society regime responsible for distributing royalties to creative industry performers.
