CORRUPTION: SIU CALLS FOR INPUT ON DRAFT RISK MANAGEMENT & PREVENTION FRAMEWORK

Please note: On 20 October 2024, PMG notified subscribers that the deadline for comment has been extended to 7 November 2025.

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has called for public comments by 24 October 2025 on a draft framework for corruption-related risk management and prevention. This is according to a notice published on the Parliamentary Monitoring Group (PMG) website seven days before the input deadline. Since there is no sign of the proposed new framework on the SIU website, it is not clear how long it has been available for comment.

Released with a separate overview, the draft framework is intended to support a 10-year national anti-corruption strategy eventually published in 2021.

Proposing a ‘more proactive’, preventative approach to corruption-related risk management, according to its review document the draft framework focuses on:

  • lifestyle audits
  • data analytics
  • integrity checks
  • a ‘vetting process’
  • sector-specific vulnerabilities, and
  • compliance with international obligations.

The draft framework’s preparation process included consultations with key domestic stakeholder organisations, as well as the World Bank and the UN Office on Drugs & Crime.
