COURT RULES: DRAFT AMENDMENT AFFECTING ATTORNEY FEE TAXES & TARIFFS

The Rules Board for Courts of Law intends updating Uniform Rule 70(5)(b) to accommodate a tariff structure for party and party recovery for attorneys, which has been in place since 1996. Input is sought by 21 February 2025 on the amendment now being proposed.

This is noting that:

• Uniform Court Rule 70 deals with attorneys’ fee taxes and tariffs, and that
• amendments to other provisions in the rule came into force ‘earlier this year’.
