DEEDS REGISTRIES AMENDMENT BILL TABLED IN PARLIAMENT

The overarching objective of a Deeds Registries Amendment Bill just tabled in Parliament is to 'streamline and enhance' the administration and registration process. However, the draft Bill also seeks to empower the Minister 'to make regulations in respect of the collection of personal information relating to race, gender, citizenship and nationality for statistical and land audit purposes'. In addition, once in force it will 'further provide for the registration of waivers of preference in respect of registered real rights in favour of leases'.
