DIVISION OF REVENUE BILL: PARLIAMENTARY PROCESS BEGINS

Please note: On 20 March 2025, the NCOP Select Committee on Appropriations issued a notice calling for submissions by 14 April 2025 not only on the Division of Revenue Bill but also on two other Bills tabled with the 2025/2026 Budget: the Appropriation Bill and the Eskom Debt Relief Amendment Bill. This is in anticipation of parliamentary hearings scheduled for 16 April 2025. For more information, you are referred this report.
The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Appropriations has called for submissions by 28 March 2025 on the latest Division of Revenue Bill, which was tabled in Parliament recently with the 2025/26 Budget. Hearings are scheduled to be held on 1 April 2025.
The Bill seeks to provide for the equitable division of revenue raised nationally among the national, provincial and local spheres of government for the 2025/26 financial year. Also providing for conditional provincial and municipal grants, the Bill spells out the requirements to be met by all accounting officers concerned.
