Domestic Violence Act - Draft regulations and directives have been released for public comment

The Department of Justice & Constitutional Development has called for input on draft regulations that, once in force, will give effect to the recently promulgated Domestic Violence Amendment Act. Among other things, the Act further regulates the issuing of protection orders in response to incidents of domestic violence; and aligns the principal statute with the Protection from Harassment Act, 2011. It is one of three peices of new legislation intended to curb gender-based violence and femicide.
