DRAFT REMUNERATION OF PUBLIC OFFICE BEARERS AMENDMENT BILL: DA CALLS FOR PROPOSALS

The DA’s Leon Schreiber has gazetted a notice announcing his intention to table a Bill in Parliament proposing changes to the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers Act, 1998, as amended. The Bill’s purpose would be to remedy a perceived ‘lack of controls and transparency in the provision of tools of trade, allowances and benefits’ to the President, Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
The notice summarises what is envisaged and calls for input on the Bill’s contents. The deadline for comment has been set at 19 February 2023.
