DRAFT REPLACEMENT OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY PHYSICAL AGENTS EXPOSURE REGULATIONS OUT FOR COMMENT

The Department of Employment & Labour has called for input by 18 January 2023 on comprehensive proposals for regulating workplace exposure to physical agents across the full spectrum of private and public sector settings in which employees are placed. They cover training, risk assessment, control measures, medical surveillance, monitoring, record-keeping and penalties. Once finalised, they will replace the existing reglations. Physical agents include cold and heat stress, lighting, air quality, vibration, and non-iodising radiation. Separate draft regulations have been prepared to deal with noise-induced hearing loss.
