ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS: END-USER, SUBSCRIBER SERVICE CHARTER REGULATIONS TO BE AMENDED

Please note: On 9 April 2024, the authority gazetted a notice extending the input deadline to 24 April 2024.

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa has called for input by 15 April 2024 on another set of draft amendments to the end-user and subscriber service charter regulations.

Among other things, they seek to consolidate depletion notification provisions for voice, SMS, data and over-the-top media services. In that context, it is proposed that Regulation 8B (out-of-bundle billing practices) should be repealed – although several of its provisions appear to have been incorporated into the new Reglation 8A. Both these regulations were added in May 2018. A raft of bundle-related and other new definitions are also proposed.
