Work is under way on a revised set of draft regulations giving effect to the Employment Equity Amendment Act, 2022. This is according to an SAnews report on a recent meeting of the National Assembly’s Employment & Labour Committee.

Employment & Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi is quoted as having said that, after receiving public comments on draft regulations released in May 2023, the department is ‘finetuning’ a revised draft to be published for further input.
The May 2023 draft regulations proposed five-year sector-specific employment equity targets intended to facilitate the process of arriving at a more demographically representative spread of employees at top and senior management levels, as well as among professionally qualified and skilled personnel.
