Input is sought by 12 June 2023 on draft regulations that, once in force, will operationalise the Employment Equity Amendment Act. This is noting that, among other things, the amendment Act empowers the Minister to prescribe sector-specific employment equity targets per population group and gender – nationally and regionally.
It is proposed that these targets should be achieved over a five-year period and would apply to the appointment of top management, senior management, professionally qualified and skilled personnel.
Progress made in reaching the prescribed targets would affect the eligibility of designated employers to qualify when tendering for state contracts.
