ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT REGULATIONS: DRAFT MINE-RELATED AMENDMENTS OUT FOR COMMENT

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries & the Environment has called for input by 4 September 2023 on proposed amendments to the 2104 environmental impact assessment regulations and related listing notices. They could have significant implications for the mining industry and, more specifically:

  • environmental management plans
  • activities involving hydraulic fracturing and reclamation
  • closure activities
  • public consultation
  • offshore activities, and
  • the regularity of audit reports.

The regulations and listed activities have already been amended several times. Unfortunately, however, no reliable updated versions are electronically available.
