ESKOM DEBT RELIEF AMENDMENT BILL: PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES CALL FOR INPUT

The National Assembly and NCOP appropriations committees have called for written submissions by 27 November 2023 on the Eskom Debt Relief Amendment Bill. This is in anticipation of hearings expected to take place four days later.
Tabled on 1 November 2023 with the Medium Term Budget Policy Statement, the Bill seeks to:
- provide for the payment of interest by Eskom on amounts advanced as loans, and
- empower the Finance Minister to reduce the amounts for which provision is made in the 2023 Act should Eskom fail to comply with loan conditions.
