FINANCIAL INTELLIGENCE CENTRE ACT: DRAFT IMPLEMENTATION GUIDELINES OUT FOR COMMENT

Please note: On 3 August 2026, the Financial Intelligence Centre published a revised guidance note for implementation. An accompanying consultation feedback report summarises input received on the draft document, some of which is reflected in the new guidance note.

The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) has released a draft guidance note on implementing certain aspects of the 2001 FIC Act – calling for input by 26 June 2026.

According to an accompanying notice, among other things the document seeks to clarify:

  • ‘the circumstances under which simplified due diligence may not be applied’, and
  • risk assessment.
