The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) has called for input by 13 February 2026 on a draft directive affecting the registration of accountable institutions under section 43B of the 2001 FIC Act.
It is proposed that – as part of the registration process and to determine the geographic location of group structures – institutions should provide information on their head office, branches and subsidiaries both in and outside South Africa. This is noting that the schedule listing accountable institutions was amended in November 2022 to include attorneys, advocates and juristic entities as contemplated in the 2014 Legal Practice Act.
