FINANCIAL MATTERS AMENDMENT ACT JOINS STATUTE BOOKS

Please note: The Act came into effect on 14 July 2023, a week after being signed into law (commencement notice).
The Financial Laws Amendment Act, 2023, has been gazetted but is not yet in force.
Once operationalised, the new piece of legislation will amend:
- the Auditing Profession Act, 2005, and the Auditing Profession Amendment Act, 2021, to adjust the powers of the enforcement committee where an auditor admits guilt to a misdemeanour,
- various Acts dealing with pensions, and
- the Land & Agricultural Development Bank Act, 2002, among other things by replacing provisions for judicial management with business rescue measures in keeping with the requirements of the Companies Act, 2008.
