FINANCIAL SECTOR LEGISLATION: MORE COMMENCEMENT DATES GAZETTED, SOME IMMINENT

National Treasury has gazetted notices announcing commencement dates for:
- more sections of the Financial Sector Regulation Act, 2017:
- Chapter 16, dealing with fees, levies and finances (some sections will come into force on 1 April 2023, with others following in June 2023, April 2024 and June 2024), and
- section 290, dealing with amendments and repeals (which will come into effect on 1 April 2023 in respect of certain items in Schedule 4)
- most sections of the Financial Sector & Deposit Insurance Levies Act, 2022 (1 April 2023, except for section 9 and Schedule 6, providing for the levy itself), and
- all sections of the Financial Sector & Deposit Insurance Levies (Administration) & Deposit Insurance Premiums Act, 2022 (some of which will come into force on 1 April 2023, with others following in June 2023, April 2024 and June 2024).
