National Treasury has gazetted a notice extending the 2017 Financial Sector Regulation Act’s transitional arrangements for medical schemes, collective investment schemes, pension funds and friendly societies. In terms of the notice:
- the Act’s sub-sections 291(1) and (2) (regarding the role of the Council for Medical Schemes, with the concurrence of the Prudential and Financial Sector Conduct Authorities respectively) will remain in force until 31 March 2029; while
- the Act’s sub-section 292(1) (regarding the role of the Financial Sector Conduct Authority in matters affecting collective investment schemes, pension funds and friendly societies) will remain in force until 31 March 2028.
