FINANCIAL SECTOR: RISK MANAGEMENT, COMPLIANCE PROGRAMME DIRECTIVE GAZETTED

The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) has issued a directive prescribing ‘the manner and time frame within which specified accountable institutions are required to submit a copy of the documentation describing their risk management and compliance programme’.

Released in draft form in July 2026 for comment, the directive lists the dates in October by which, annually, certain accountable institutions listed in the 2001 FIC Act’s amended Schedule 1 are required to have submitted the documents concerned.

The Act’s amended Schedule 1 has been in force since December 2022, as SA Legal Academy has regularly reported. It includes legal practitioners and commercial juristic entities.

Input received during public consultations on the draft directive is summarised in a feedback note posted on the FIC website with a notice on the final directive.
