FOODSTUFF LABELLING AND ADVERTISING: DRAFT REGULATIONS OUT FOR COMMENT

Substantive input is sought by 30 April 2023 on a comprehensive set of draft regulations that, once finalised, will probably replace those in force since 2010. Applicable to all pre-packaged foodstuffs and the bulk stock from which they are taken or sold, the proposed new regulations seek to impose somewhat onerous record-keeping obligations on all food business operators. They also have implications for food manufacturers and importers. Among other thing, it is envisaged that food business operators would be allowed only 48 hours to produce documents requested by an inspector.
