FOREIGN FILMS, GAMES AND PUBLICATIONS: DRAFT CLASSIFICATION ACCREDITATION FRAMEWORK OUT FOR COMMENT

The Film & Publication Board has called for input by 23 July 2023 on a draft framework for accrediting films, games and publications classified under foreign and/or international systems.
Intended to guide the commercial online distributors of these products locally, once finalised the framework is expected to facilitate the process of approaching the Board for permission to apply classifications and ratings used by other jurisdictions.
With that in mind, the draft framework outlines the procedures to be followed and criteria met in the context of various legal obligations, including respect for:
- specific constitutionally enshrined rights
- child protection imperatives, and
- diverse socio-cultural norms and standards.
