FOREST FIRES, AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS, CORRECTIONAL SERVICES BILLS SIGNED INTO LAW

The Presidency has issued a media statement confirming that three more Bills have been signed into law and added to the statute books. The statement provides insights into some of their key provisions. The Acts concerned are:
- the Veld & Forest Fires Amendment Act (responding to policy developments with implications for effective, sustainable forest management, biodiversity and habitat protection, and food security)
- the Agricultural Product Standards Amendment Act (providing for clear and effective management controls and quality control audits), and
- the Correctional Services Amendment Act (responding to the Constitutional Court’s December 2020 ruling on the independence of the Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services)
Gazetted for information purposes, none of the three new Acts is yet in force.
