FOUR MORE IMPORTANT BILLS LEAVE PARLIAMENT

The NCOP has passed four more key Bills, which will be sent to the President for signature. Only once enacted and commenced will each new piece of legislation come into force. The Bills concered are:

  • the Electoral Matters Amendment Bill’s ‘B’ version (addressing various issues stemming from legislative provisions enabling independent candidates to stand for election to the National Assembly and provincial legislatures)
  • the Companies Amendment Bill’s ‘B’ version (among other things providing for the full disclosure of executive pay packages to address concerns about remuneration levels widely perceived to be excessive)
  • the Companies Second Amendment Bill’s ‘B’ version (among other things giving practical effect to Zondo State Capture Commission recommendations dealing with delinquency on the part of a company director), and
  • the Revenue Laws Amendment Bill’s ‘B’ version (providing for the introduction of a two pot retirement savings system on 1 September 2024).
