GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT BILLS READY TO LEAVE PARLIAMENT

Please note: Parliamentary papers have confirmed that, on 19 March 2024, the NCOP passed both Bills and sent them to the President for signature.

The National Council on Gender-Based Violence & Femicide Bill and the National Youth Development Agency Amendment Bill are ready to be passed by the NCOP and sent to the President for signature. This is according to separate reports tabled in the House by its Health & Social Services Committee.

No further changes have been made to the ‘B’ version of each Bill.

Once enacted and operationalised, the National Council on Gender-Based Violence & Femicide Bill will put in place the institutional arrangements necessary for implementing the national strategic plan that emerged from the 2018 presidential summit.

The National Youth Development Agency Amendment Bill focuses largely on governance and administrative matters.
