The National Assembly’s Justice & Correctional Services Committee has called for written submissions by 26 May 2023 on the recently introduced Judicial Matters Amendment Bill. This is in anticipation of public hearings.
The committee notice concerned provides some insights into amendments proposed with the intention of addressing issues referred to in a memorandum on the Bill’ s objects as ‘practical’, ‘technical’ and ‘non-contentious’. Some nevertheless deal with the procedures followed in the context of domestic violence, discrimination, sexual offences and corrupt activities.
