The Presidential Climate Commission established in 2020 has published a report with proposals for a just transition financing mechanism to facilitate the move away from coal-fuelled power stations towards cleaner sources of energy. Input is sought by 24 January 2024.
According to the document’s executive summary, the mechanism envisaged would raise funds for ‘crucial interventions’ likely to include:
The document also explores the practicalities of establishing the mechanism itself, as well as developing the necessary regulatory frameworks.
