LAND COURT: INPUT SOUGHT ON DRAFT RULES

On behalf of the Rules Board for Courts of Law, the Department of Justice & Constitutional Development has published draft rules for the Land Court – calling for input by 27 February 2026. This is noting that:

  • most sections of the 2023 Land Court Act came into force in April 2024, and that
  • draft regulations were gazetted that month for public comment.

SA Legal Academy reported on both developments at the time.

Although not expressly stated, the proposed new rules appear to amend those in place since 1997 for the former Land Claims Court. They also incorporate certain sections of the Uniform Rules of Court.
