On behalf of the Rules Board for Courts of Law, the Department of Justice & Constitutional Development has issued a notice calling for input by 30 September 2026 on more draft amendments to the Magistrates’ Courts rules. Their purpose is to provide for ‘the revival of a rule nisi’ where the applicant concerned once again fails to appear in court. This would be in line with provisions in the Uniform Court Rules.
