LEGAL PRACTICE COUNCIL: TWO MORE RULES AMENDED, ANOTHER CHANGE OUT FOR COMMENT

The Legal Practice Council has gazetted three notices affecting its rules.

Rules 5.2 and 21.4 have been amended, respectively affecting:

  • fees for the re-mark or re-assessment of examination papers, and
  • the partial fulfilment of practical examinations prior to admission and enrolment as an attorney.

Input is sought by 2 June 2025 on proposed amendments to Rules 30.4 and 31.4, respectively dealing with procedures to be followed when applying for:

  • the conversion of enrolment as an attorney to that of an advocate, and
  • the conversion of non-practising legal practitioner status to practising legal practitioner (and vice versa).
