Please note: According to the minutes of the NCOP's 29 July 2024 plenary session, all five Bills listed below have been revived.

According to a recently circulated order paper for the NCOP’s 29 July 2024 plenary session, the Chief Whip will propose that the House should resolve to revive several more Bills. Since this proposal is likely to be adopted, when the NCOP committees concerned reconvene on 20 August 2024 they are expected to continue processing the following Bills:

  • the Marine Oil Pollution (Preparedness, Response & Co-operation) Bill’s ‘B’ version (not yet available) (seeking to align domestic legislation with international convention requirements)
  • the Older Persons Amendment Bill’s ‘B’ version (among other things, seeking to provide for the removal of older persons to temporary safe care without a court order)
  • the Public Administration Management Amendment Bill’s ‘B’ version (seeking to address various operational challenges)
  • the Public Service Amendment Bill’s ‘B’ version (seeking to address various operational challenges), and
  • the Independent Municipal Demarcation Authority Bill’s ‘B’ version (intended to repeal and replace the Local Government: Municipal Demarcation Act, 1998, to align the legislation with prevailing practices)
