MAGISTRATES’ COURTS RULES: INPUT SOUGHT ON LAND EVICTIONS CHANGE

On behalf of the Rules Board for Courts of Law, the Department of Justice & Constitutional Development has called for input by 23 January 2026 on a proposed amendment to the Magistrates’ Courts rules affecting appeal procedures in the context of land-related legislation.
Once finalised and in force, the rule will regulate procedures for the automatic review of eviction orders under the 1997 Extension of Security of Tenure Act and 2023 Land Court Act.
