The National Assembly Committee on Mineral & Petroleum Resources has issued a notice calling for written submissions on the Mine Health & Safety Amendment Bill. The deadline for input is 22 August 2026, with parliamentary hearings likely to follow.
Tabled in April 2026, the Bill seeks to address ‘anomalies’ in the principal statute with the aim of ensuring that it is consistent not only with the prescripts of the 2002 Mineral & Petroleum Resources Development Act but also with the requirements of other relevant legislation.
