NATIONAL ENERGY ACT: INTEGRATED ENERGY PLANNING SECTION 6 IN FORCE

Chapter 3, section 6, of the National Energy Act, 2008, came into effect on 30 March 2023, according to a presidential proclamation gazetted on 28 April 2023.
Chapter 3 deals with integrated energy planning – with section 6 spelling out the Minister’s obligations in that regard, along with the contents of each annual plan.
To date, only one plan has been developed. Released in November 2016 for public comment, as far as can be ascertained the final plan has never been published.
According to the National Government website, many key sections of the Act have yet to come into force.
