NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE: CALL FOR INPUT ON UPWARD ADJUSTMENT

Following its routine annual review, the National Minimum Wage Commission has gazetted a report recommending an upward adjustment based on the consumer price index (CPI) plus between 0.05% and 0.1%. The thinking behind this proposal is unpacked in the report. At the beginning of this year, the national minimum hourly wage was increased by R1.50 to R23.19.
