NATIONAL PROSECUTING AUTHORITY AMENDMENT BILL READY TO LEAVE PARLIAMENT

The NCOP’s Security & Justice Committee has tabled a report in the House recommending that the National Prosecuting Authority Amendment Bill’s ‘B’ version be passed without further changes.

As SA Legal Academy has regularly reported, once enacted and in force the new piece of legislation will facilitate:

  • the establishment of a permanent Investigating Directorate against Corruption within the Office of the National Director of Public Prosecutions, and
  • support its independence.

Against that backdrop, the Bill also provides for the appointment of investigators, as well as their remuneration, conditions of service and powers.
