A Bill has been tabled in Parliament proposing amendments to the National Prosecuting Authority Act, 1998, that, once in force, will ‘support the independence’ of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption. The Bill’s overarching objective is to facilitate the process of making the directorate a permanent entity within the Office of the National Director of Public Prosecutions.
Against that backdrop, the National Prosecuting Authority Amendment Bill provides for the appointment of investigators, along with their powers, remuneration and conditions of service.
