NCOP COMMITTEES TO CONTINUE WORKING UNTIL 3 MAY 2024

A recently published NCOP programme for its second term this year allows committees to continue working until 3 May 2024 – with 21 May 2024 earmarked for a final NCOP plenary.
This points to a concerted effort by both Houses to significantly reduce the number of Bills on which work is still in progress when South Africa’s sixth democratic Parliament rises for the May 2024 elections.
There has been no change to the National Assembly programme, which still reflects an apparently indefinite ‘constituency period’ beginning on 2 April 2024.
