NEW MAJOR HAZARD INSTALLATION REGULATIONS IN FORCE

New major hazard installation regulations have been promulgated and gazetted, replacing those in force since 2001. Released in 2019 in draft form for public comment, at the time the proposed new regulations were ‘intended to tighten compliance’ with the requirements of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, 1993, as amended. Their overarching objective is to mitigate and protect employees and members of the public from major incidents.
