NHI BILL: NCOP COMMITTEE EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS

The NCOP Committee on Health & Social Services has issued a media statement extending to 15 September 2023 the deadline for written submissions on the National Health Insurance Bill.

According to the statement, this decision ‘was informed by … appeals … from relevant stakeholders, who play an important role in the delivery of healthcare services’.

As SA Legal Academy has regularly reported, the Bill’s overarching objective is ‘to lay the foundation for ‘a reconfiguration of … institutions and organisations involved in the funding, pooling, purchasing and provision of health care services’.
